When I was pregnant with Little P, I was unfortunate enough to be in my third trimester in the middle of summer. Now, I’ve never been a fan of summer, but I disliked it even more when I was pregnant. I had a pretty easy pregnancy, but by the end I was ready to not be pregnant. Add in summer heat and I was hot and double miserable (once for being pregnant still and the other for it being summer).
Take a look at these tips on how you can survive your summer pregnancy (or help someone pregnant in your life survive theirs).
Hydrate
Making sure you drink enough while pregnant is already extremely important. During the summer you have to be especially careful and diligent with how much water you’re taking in.
If you haven’t already bought a water bottle, do it now. I opted for a bigger one that way I didn’t have to refill it as often. However, the size is really up to you. Get a cute one and take it with you everywhere. I’d also opt for an insulated one. A nice cool drink of water is helpful in keeping a bit cooler in the heat.
Clothing

Loose and comfortable clothing is the way to go. Shorts, skirts, flowy shirts, dresses, pick whatever you like and get a few options of each one. Some sort of breathable material would be really nice as well. Think lightweight and cotton, or even take a look through the work out section. Don’t get me wrong, there’s options in the non work out section, but I personally enjoy the look and feel of exercise clothing.
The point is you don’t want to add heavy or bulky clothing to the already hot weather. Breathable and loose clothing can help suck in moisture and help air flow better to your body.
Fan/Mister
Get a little handheld fan that’s also a misting device. You can also get a squirt bottle or just a handheld fan. As I said, I hate the summers, so I went with the fan and mister combo.
It feels so good getting a breeze (even if the air is a bit hot) and if you add in a bit of water, it’s pretty amazing. You can use this anytime you get a bit warm or whenever you’re outside, I’m not judging you.
Swimming
You can go swimming while you’re pregnant. It’s an awesome source of exercise, it’s fun, and it keeps you cool. Isn’t swimming great? Don’t overdo it. No need to do any cannonballs or belly flops. Also don’t forget to put on your sunscreen!
Stay Inside
All right, you don’t have to be a complete hermit. You will want to avoid the hotter parts of the day though. So, any activities you need (or want) to do, should be done when it’s cooler. Early morning or evening is going to be the best time to get things done.
Keep that in mind for any outside exercising you’ll be doing as well. Although, again, some exercise indoors isn’t so bad either.
So, there you have it! Some tips on how you too can survive your summer pregnancy. Don’t forget to treat yourself to some frozen Popsicles or ice cream this summer! You deserve it.
Let me know in the comments how you survived your summer pregnancy or even if you were lucky enough to never be pregnant in the summer!

Love these tips! I’m 19 weeks now.. and feet are starting to swell in the summer heat. I’m excited though, that I won’t be huge until fall!

I can so relate to this! with my third baby I was 8 months pregnant and went for a family holiday to Turkey in the peak of summer. Being me I grinned and bared it for not to ruin everyone else’s trip but was literally dying on the inside and my feet no longer fit into any footwear by the end of it!

Yes! Water really is such a huge part, no matter what time you’re pregnant at. So, lucky that you managed to avoid the hottest part of the year!! I’m jealous.
