So, you may have noticed that it’s been really quiet around here recently. I took a much-needed break. I really felt like I had finally hit a groove with my posting patterns. So, it was a bit disappointing to lose that. However, any time I went to sit down and write I came up with nothing or I absolutely hated what I was writing. It didn’t feel good, so I figured I’d step back.
Now, I have a terrible habit of stopping things abruptly. It’s something I’m working on. Well, while I was taking a break, I was wondering what my first post back should be. It was making me super anxious. Until I noticed a few bloggers announcing their triumphant return to social media and/or blogging.
I don’t know why I didn’t think of it myself. It feels like a good way to ease back in and get back into the writing mindset.
So, what did I do on my break?
I mostly focused on myself and working on building some habits and routines for myself.
I’m consistently exercising, drinking enough water, and reading. I’ve been practicing typing (I want to be faster) and have been incorporating meditation into my day.
These are all things that I’ve tried to implement in my life before. I’m consistent for a little and then fall out of habit. I think focusing completely on making those things stick really helped this time. At least I’ve been doing them for a period of time that they should be routine. (Doing something for 21 days makes it a habit. Has anyone else heard that statement?)
I’ve also had less television on. I usually just have YouTube or something in the background. I dramatically cut my screen time down. I’m hoping this helped increase my creativity. Plus, while Little P never really sits down and watches TV, she also shouldn’t get used to the television being constantly on.
We also signed up for Gymboree. I’m generally opposed to stuff like that. If there’s a free option for something I’m going to take it. I thought it would be like paying to visit a park’s jungle gym. Turns out that place is awesome and totally exceeded my expectations. We’ve been going 2-3 times a week.
I also took some time to play video games. It’s always been something that I enjoy. I had a couple of games I hadn’t played in a while. I revisited them and had a great time.
That’s about all I did during my break. It was really nice finally focusing on just the things I wanted. Obviously, I still took care of my household, but I used my spare time to focus completely on things I wanted to do. I think I finally feel more balanced.
