Starting blogging has really been one of the best things that I’ve started doing with my time. It’s been a wonderful journey and I’m excited that I’ve been doing it. After blogging for a whole year (hooray, Kaci Ventures birthday month!) I decided to take a look at a few of the things that I love about blogging.
I’ve never had a job where I had complete and total control over how things went. Most of the times it feels like I don’t have control in how things go in life either. However, I can completely control what happens with Kaci Ventures and that’s amazing. It’s refreshing to have this amount of control over something.
It’s also amazing to be able to work on Kaci Ventures whenever. Blogging doesn’t force you to work within a certain time period. If I feel super creative really early, then that’s when I can write. I can take breaks whenever and go back to the blog when I’m feeling more creative or when I have time. I’ve had a number of jobs that claim you’re in charge of your schedule, but still expect you to work the whole eight hours in one go. I’ve never viewed that as making your own schedule, but I understand why it has to be like that for most jobs.
Blogging is a bit tougher than I initially thought it would be. Constantly coming up with content, editing, SEO, analytics, social media, etc. there’s so much to figure out. I’ve been able to learn so much and there’s still so much to learn.
Of course, blogging can be as simple as “write post, publish post”, but I appreciate that there can be so much to learn and discover while blogging. I feel a lot of those skills can be marketable as well.
I feel I get to express myself and work towards solutions to things I’m going through in a positive manner. It’s nice to get feedback from other people who have been through similar experiences or even from people who just have a different viewpoint. I absolutely love any feedback because it helps me to grow as a person and a writer.
I find blogging helpful even if I don’t get a lot of feedback on the post. It is a bit more like journaling when you don’t get much feedback from people, but I’ve always approached blogging as sharing my experiences to help people. So, I still find it more helpful and releasing than if I was only writing to myself.
Interacting with other bloggers and creators feels really satisfying. I didn’t realize how much other bloggers supported and encouraged one another. It feels like I have an online family now. I’ve been able to meet and interact with people who I never would have gotten the opportunity to talk to unless I started blogging.
